Post1“In what ways and to whatextent do the readings in this section reinforce, challenge, and/orrevise the concepts of leadership from the readings”Thereadings reinforce the importance of leadership programs that seek toidentify, develop and nurture leadership qualities in anorganization. The standards of leadership are maintained through thestructures of an organization. Rosh and Kussel (2010) express thebroad definitions and expansive categories that add to the ambiguityof leadership without proper nurturing. On the other hand, Medina(2011) explores the importance of leadership training programs in anorganization. The readings further reinforce the assertion thatleadership must nurture the right ethics by portraying the neededqualities. The readings explore the qualities that define theleadership and how they help leaders influence people in anorganization. For instance, Thompson et al (2010) describes theethics of leadership and the importance of ethical leadership in anorganization.“Examineand discuss the ways the story becomes more apparent and significantin relation to leadership in this set of texts, perhaps more so thanin the first grouping. Which texts make this link most obvious andhow do they do so?” Thereadings become more apparent and significant to concepts ofleadership as an art of influencing people in the organization orsociety. The readings define leadership from a broad level ofunderstanding that aim of concluding that the main role of leading isinfluencing. The readings provide a wide view of understanding theareas of discipline that leadership seeks to influence the behaviorof people. The reading by Medina reinforces more that leadership isan art of influencing people. Medina (2011) explores the discussionof whether leadership is an art or a science, by discussing theprocess of becoming a leader and linking it to different socialenvironments. This reinforces the importance of leadership inmanagement and in an organization.“Inwhat ways does your own conception of leadership mesh with or divergefrom the readings so far?”My own conception ofleadership meshes well with the readings and do not diverge fromtheir arguments. Having a past practice in leadership, my conceptionof leadership is wide and appreciates the fact that leaders areraised through the nurturing of the innate traits that all people areborn with. Through the recognition that leadership is important tomanage and influence the behavior of people, I agree with thedifferent perspectives that the readings defined and appliedapplication in different aspects in an organization.“Whatdo you find most interesting, revealing, strange, compelling, and/orsurprising about the readings”Themost interesting thing about the readings is their application ofleadership in almost every aspect of the society or in anorganization. The readings discuss diverse aspects of leadership thatexpanded my view of leadership to acknowledge that leadership isrequired everywhere. I particularly liked the discussion ofleadership in organizational functions, social environments, ethicalpractices, educational matters, gender diversities, innovation andnursing leadership among other areas. It was interesting to readabout the readings about the need of social environment in anorganization towards the enhancement of leadership in theindividuals. This resonates with the value that organizations placeon their employees as the social capital of an organization. This isan important aspect of leadership that can be used to mentor andnurture people towards leadership.Post 2The readings reinforce theimportance of leadership in an organization and the role it plays inmanagement. By focusing on the role of leadership in differentaspects of management of an organization, the readings seek toexplore the application of leadership qualities. Therefore, thereadings reinforce the need for leadership in creating an effectiveenvironment for management in an organization. Moreover, becoming aleader is described as the aspect that makes people manage andinfluence the behavior of people effectively. According to Medina(2011), leadership is not only inborn but also determined by thetraits that people gain to give the desired results in anorganization. ReferencesPOST 1
