Technologyrefers to the improvised methods of performing a task to increaseboth the speed of execution and the efficiency. It is the body oftechnical knowledge advanced in the production processes and deliveryof services. Machines, computers, and other modern devices are allproducts of the technology milestone. However, most people onlyassociate technology with information and technology includingcomputers and the internet. To clarify on that issue, informationsystem, and internet are a sub-set of technology because it there ismuch other development outside that domain that is practicallycategorized as the technological milestone. In a summary, technologywould refer to the advanced methods and innovations that simplify theway processes are performed and deliver services.

Socialchange refers to the shift in the way society conducts its activitiesfrom the way it has been the norm. It is simply an alteration of thesociety order and adoption of new behaviors, relations, organization, and also nature. Social change denotes the notion of societyprogression and or sociocultural evolution. It is a paradigmaticchange from one form of society order toward another, for instance, achange from the socialist economic to capitalist economicorientation. The need and motivation to society change are driven bythe culture, science, religion, scientific and technological forces.Change is inevitable and as such it is necessary to keep up with theever-changing environment to survive.

Technologyand society change are related because the society needs to keep upwith the latest technology advances to promote and develop the life. The current life that we live is all depended on technology and assuch technology is a mega factor that will determine the efficiencyand effectiveness of social change(Facer,2011).

Personalcomputers, famously called PCs have had a big impact on thedevelopment of technology and computing to the society. The Internetis a global interconnection of all private and public networks whereinformation and other resources can be found. Cellular phones haveinternet connection capabilities and continue to be enhanced in termsof speed and availability. For instance, many smartphones have beenenhanced to accommodate data connection rate of up to 3GB per second.Personal computers have increased accessibility to the Internet, andother computer function since they are cheap to both acquire andmaintain. Computer literacy has increased since the introduction ofpersonal computers and the cellular phones. Interest, on the otherhand, has increased and promoted communication and delivery ofservices in the society. Most processes and delivery of services isdepended on the flow of information and the feedback. The internetenables real-time sharing of information. Hence, the decision-makingprocess has been expedited.

TheInternet has also reduced the cost of sharing information andincreased efficiency in the production process through automation ofcore business processes. Operations in the manufacturing firm can beautomated enabling a twenty-four-hour production process and areduction in the number of workers. This has in effect reduced theemployment opportunities. Overall, personal computers, cellularphones, and the internet have increased efficiency in the way societyprocedures used to be performed. Costs have been saved, and thequalities of the decision have increased due to the abundance ofinformation available. Society is changing with the technologicaladvances and so it is clear that change is inevitable, and it is uponthe players in the society to adopt the right changes in order to becompetitive and fit to compete in the ever challenging environment.

Equilibriummodel examines the point at which the society is content with the newdevelopment that are brought forth to the society by others. It is abalance between the internal balance and the external affairs thatthe society brings forth. Although change is inevitable, the rate ofchange brought in a society should not exceed the levels and limitthat the society accepts. As such, equilibrium model sets a parameterthrough which society can determine the level at which technologyshould be advanced to the society. To add on to that, the digitaldivide determine the geographical differences in the acceptance ofand adoption of technology advances in the society. It is a fact thatpeople from the different geographical location will accept and adopttechnology differently. What determines the fact is the level ofaccepted change and perception of the effect of that change to thesociety (Preston,2001).

Culturallag, on the other hand, affects technology and society change becausepeople have different rates of accepting technological advances.Unless a strong case for such is produced, the people are neverlikely to accept such a change. They do so because of fear, and someare subscribed to the need for the status core. As such, they wouldstrive to ensure that nothing change in the order they aremaintained. They are receptive to change which is inevitable. All theaspect is concerned with the society reception to change in thesociety order more so to the technology and as such it is proper thatwe have explained that personal objectives are the key drivers to theneed to change the society.

Technologyhas improved distribution of information related to healthcare.Asresults, service delivery in the healthcare system has improved.Further, research and study of diseases have been improved bytechnology and information system. Sharing of information y majorhealth stakeholders has been enhanced by such technological tools asvideo conferencing and Skype. It is possible for doctors to conductan operation to a patient located in different geographical location. In the environment, technology has enhanced the study of changes andtrends in the environment.

Cloudcomputing is one of the current technological inventions that haveemerged. It has enabled the society to save data and otherconfidential information more safely. It is cheaper to backup datawith cloud computing than using other physical data storage devices.Cloud computing have increased the confidentiality of organizationtransaction since the evidence of such is readily available.Furthermore, cloud computing has greatly reduced the cost of storingdata by huge margins, increased the speed of accessing data, andenhanced the safety of information (White,2006).

Conclusion

Technologyis an escalating phenomenon in the current world. Due to itsexponential development, society should also come up with that speedto survive in this world of limited resources. Many technologicaladvances have been presented, and they are aimed at improving the waywe do things. The speed of executing operations within manufacturingfacilities has been increased while the costs have reduced.Technology is an order winner for manufacturing and delivery ofservices. Society change cannot ignore technology since technology isa small aspect that encompasses society change. The two goes togetherif society change is to be a success.
